The General Assembly has begun its two-year session. This means we have two years to pass life-protecting legislation and to block bad, pro-abortion legislation. You can help the South Carolina Citizens for Life office lobby for pro-life legislation and against pro-abortion legislation right from the comfort of your own home.

If hundreds of pro-lifers such as yourself will use the internet frequently to monitor the General Assembly -- daily if possible -- we can vastly increase our effectiveness in the legislative arena. Please join this new "interactive" pro-life watchdog effort. For years you have called your Senators and Representatives about legislation after you received an ACTION ALERT by mail or on the phone tree. Now the internet makes citizens advocacy easier and more efficient.

We still MUST have that personal contact with our lawmakers -- personal visits, personal letters and personal phone calls -- in order to be effective. We cannot rely solely on technology, as good as it is. But using the internet to monitor pro-life or pro-abortion bills and legislative action is a huge help for pro-lifers. And believe me, the pro-aborts and their supporters will be doing exactly the same.

Here are three easy steps to help you become an effective Pro-Life Legislative Watchdog!

1. Access http://www.scstatehouse.net/ and add it to your bookmark or favorite places. Monitor it frequently.

2. Become familiar with the site and all it offers, including the ability for live viewing of the House and Senate in action if you have audio and video capability on your computer.

3. Learn to scan legislation for "code" words such as abortion, pregnancy prevention, and Medicaid. E-mail the SCCL office if you find something you believe needs our attention.
