South Carolina Legislation

House and Senate conferees failed to reach an agreement on ultrasound legislation.  This means the bill is dead for this year. Frequently it takes several attempts to get pro-life legislation passed through both chambers of the S.C. General Assembly.  We do not give up. The ultrasound bill will be the pro-life centerpiece of legislation when the lawmakers resume in January of 2008 for the second year of the two-year session. Contact your SC Legislator and ask them to support H. 3355 without amendments. The bill gives more information to a woman before an abortion. Read Marie's personal testimony that shows why this legislation is so important. For those who want amendments to exclude victims of rape or incest, author Randy Alcorn said, "One woman told me, 'A baby is the only beautiful thing that can come out of a rape.' Having and holding an innocent child can do much more good for a victimized woman than the knowldege that an innocent child died in an attempt to deny or reduce her trauma." If the bill excludes telling the truth to victims of rape or incest, then children like Autumn will be killed.
