SOUTH CAROLINA CITIZENS FOR LIFE STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
South Carolina Citizens for Life, Inc., is a non-profit, single issue, right-to-life organization devoted to restoring legal personhood to the unborn and to protecting innocent human life by eliminating abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia from our society.
SCCL is a state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, the nation's largest single-issue right-to-life organization. Through the legal and peaceful means of education, legislation, and political action, we work to restore the right to life of the pre-born and to protect the lives of medically vulnerable individuals, including elderly, disabled, mentally ill, chronically ill, and terminally ill persons. Our membership is open to anyone who supports our purpose and mission regardless of race, creed, national origin, or political affiliation.
South Carolina Citizens for Life presents fully detailed and factual information to the public on the basic life issues of abortion, infanticide and euthanasia and their related subjects, such as fetal tissue and human embryo research, pro-life free speech, and the rights of terminally ill, mentally retarded, disabled and aged persons who have special needs.
The corporation does this by:
· Developing and maintaining educational programs factually depicting the growth and development of the unborn child. These programs are age-appropriate for use in schools as well as adult programs for use by colleges, universities, churches, civic groups, etc.
· Developing and maintaining similar educational programs on the issues of abortion, abortion alternatives, euthanasia, and infanticide, and their related topics.
· Providing educational materials such as films, books, slides, videos, pamphlets, etc., to interested schools, individuals, churches or organizations.
· Publishing regularly a newspaper and action alerts to provide current information on recent events related to the previously mentioned topics.
· Providing information to the public and to women or families faced with a crisis pregnancy about where they can go for help.
· Supporting appropriate legislation which helps protect the basic right to life of all innocent human beings.
· Developing and maintaining a grassroots network of South Carolinians who advocate for right to life issues with their elected representatives.
· Providing knowledgeable individuals from the fields of medicine, law, and ethics to participate in seminars and media programs on the above topics.
The SCCL office also serves as a referral center for girls, women and families facing crisis pregnancies. Referrals can be made to any one of approximately 40 crisis pregnancy centers throughout the state.
Supported solely by donations, the SCCL office is located near downtown Columbia. The staff includes an executive director, a director of education, and an office manager. There are chapters in approximately 25 counties across the state.
SCCL provides particular outreach to African-Americans, who suffer from abortion in disproportionate numbers.
SCCL works with post-aborted women whose unique need for compassionate counseling is facilitated through the office of American Victims of Abortion and other post-abortion counseling ministries.
The organization addresses only the subjects of abortion, infanticide and euthanasia and does not take positions on any other issue.
Donations to the 501©3 Educational Fund are tax deductible. Donations to the General 501 ©4 Fund are not tax deductible.

LIFEPAC and South Carolina Citizens for Life PAC
Within SCCL, Inc., there are separately funded state and federal internal political action committees or PACs. The state PAC is called LIFEPAC. The federal PAC is called South Carolina Citizens for Life PAC. A political action committee allows like-minded pro-life citizens to pool resources to support the election of pro-life candidates for public office. The election of pro-life candidates to the three branches of government is crucial in order to pass life-protecting legislation including the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, the Woman's Right to Know Act, the Parental Consent Act, the Abortion Clinic Regulation Act, and the Physician-Assisted Suicide Ban Act. Pro-life representatives also block bad legislation such as tax funding of abortions.
PAC endorsements are based on a candidate's pro-life position and pro-life voting record without regard for the candidate's political affiliation or position on any other issue.
